Sorcha Mc Corry-Astudillo


Commenced karate aged 8 and since 2000 has  featured in every National Championship in Ireland. First selected to represent Ireland internationally at the age of 14 she began teaching karate in 2002.  She is a registered instructor, instructing at WSKF Sedai.  Sorcha is a squad member of ONAKAI - Ireland’s National Karate Squad representing Ireland at International Events and WSKF Ireland Squad.

  • First karate athlete to gain Elite Sport Entry to DCU
  • Karate Ireland (ONAKAI) and WSKF Ireland multi National Champion titles in kumite and kata 
  • Scottish / Welsh Open Champion & British Open (double silver medallist)
  • 12 WSKF World Championships medals (Japan)
  • JSKA World Champion (Team) & Individual Bronze
  • WSKF World Cup Championships (double gold & silver medalist)
  • WSKF Eastern European Championships titles
  • Belgian and Sardinian medals
  • Irish National Intervarsity Champion (Kata & Kumite) (2008 to 2012 & 2015)
  • First and currently only Irish female karate athlete to represent Ireland at two World Karate Intervarsity championships.
  • A competitor on the first Irish Female Kumite Team representing Ireland at a WKF event.

  • Chaired the National Intervarsity Karate Committee.
